Research history:

Since the founding of the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Philosophy to the establishment of the Institute of Geography, today the Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management at the Faculty of Sciences, great attention was paid to studies in the field of Methodology of Geography Teaching. A great contribution to this field was also made by dr Jovan Romelić, dr Kornel Đere and dr Pavle Bugarčić. The group studies various segments of geography teaching: teaching methods and techniques, teaching principles, modern teaching, innovations in teaching, activation in teaching, but also the historical development of geography teaching, teaching aids and facilities, teaching in nature, educational reforms, school curricula, inclusive education, gifted students, professional development of teachers, etc. The members of the group are members of the Subject Section of Geography within the Association of Subject Didactics, whose head  is Anđelija Ivkov Džigurski, PhD, and Smiljana Đukičin Vučković, PhD, as a coordinator.

The members of the group were involved in several national and international conferences on the topic of methodologyof teaching:

Also, the members are active reviewers of professional and scientific papers, as well as textbooks, manuals and other teaching materials for teaching geography.  Prof. dr Andjelija Ivkov Džigurski and Prof. dr Ljubica Ivanović Bibić are reviewers at the National Body for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education. They are aslo the members of the expert Commission for textbook manuscript expertise, textbook sets for the subject Geography at the National Education Council. Prof. dr Andjelija Ivkov Džigurski  is a reviewer within the State Graduating Project (“Improving the quality of education through the introduction of exams at the end of secondary education”) Prof. dr Andjelija Ivkov Dzigurski is a member of the editorial board of the ”Journal of Subject Didactics“ (Serbia), “Serbian Journal of Geosciences” (Serbia) and “Revija za geografijo” (Slovenia). The members of the group are also members of the commission for obtaining a license for geography teachers at the Provincial Secretariat for Education, AP Vojvodina.
