Departman za geografiju, turizam i hotelijerstvo osnovan je 1962. od strane akademika dr Branislava Bukurova i danas je deo Prirodno-matematičkog fakulteta Univerziteta u Novom Sadu. Od jedne katedre na početku rada, Departman se tokom više od šest decenija razvio u savremenu visokoškolsku i naučnoistraživačku instituciju koja objedinjuje geografiju, turizam, hotelijerstvo, gastronomiju i geoekologiju kroz rad osam katedri. Nastavu pohađa više od 1.000 studenata osnovnih studija, 150 master studenata i 50 doktoranada, što Departman čini jednom od većih nastavnih jedinica ovog profila u zemlji i regionu.
