In the evening hours of 23.1.2012, the Šumadija plane took off. A crew of about 100 members, made up of gastronomes, hoteliers, members of the FA "Vila" and tourism students, took care of over 200 guests, who had the opportunity to experience a culture that is close, but perhaps not so close.
With the blessing of Father Stefan, abbot of the Velika Remeta monastery, the flight began over historical ravines, the customs of Šumadija families, culture, song, dance and gastronomic specialties.
The travelers through time and places were prominent people from the Novi Sad academic elite, families, friends and all people with a big heart.
This flight took place in a single place, in the restaurant "Ribarac", which was a true host, honored to be able to host a large number of humanitarians.
To make everything authentic, the event was accompanied by an exhibition of photographs, provided by "Foto klub 202" from Zaječar, and pottery, the work of Miroslav Jovanović from Odžaci.
The funds collected through the realization of this thematic evening are intended for the action Battle for Babies-Neonatology Novi Sad, and the students express special gratitude to Mrs. Dr. Branka Kovačević, head of the neonatology department and Mr. Luka Lončar from Battle for Babies, who honored this event with their presence and speech.
The tailwind that pushed towards the goal was little Andrea, the daughter of Šumadija-born Diana Hemun, a tourism student, who was born in the sixth month. This little fighter instilled strength in the students to carry out the project to the end in the best possible way and to give their maximum.
Sweets, toys and school supplies, which the guests brought as a sign of good will, are intended for children from Kosovo.
A troupe of 25 cheerful Šumadija natives would never have been inspired to do this project if it had not been for the Faculty of Sciences and DGTH.
