Let’s revive museums

13 to 24 January 2010

During January 2012, as part of the action "Let's bring museums to life" within the course "Animation in Tourism", several children's workshops were held in museums and galleries of Novi Sad:

  1. Workshop "Vesla Farm" held on 13.01 starting at 14:00 at the "Museum of Vojvodina",
  2. Workshop "Magic of the Past" held on 17.01 starting at 13:30 at the "Gallery of Matica Srpska"
  3. Workshop "Children are the Ornament of the World" held on 19.01 starting at 11:00 at the "Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski",
  4. Workshop "Time Machine" held on 19.01 starting at 14:00 at the "Museum of Vojvodina",
  5. Workshop "Through Play to Knowledge in the Wonderful Zoo Museum" held on 24.01 starting at 9:00 at the "Institute for Nature Protection".

In this way, a group of 25 fourth-year and master's students from the departments: Manager in Tourism and Manager in Hotel Management, Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management, Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad, carried out the practical part of the exam in the course Animation in Tourism.
The participants of these workshops were children from the Day Care Center at the Safe Children's House in Novi Sad, the children's village from Sremska Kamenica and children from the primary school "Branko Radičević" from Novi Sad.
The goal of the action "Let's Bring Museums to Life" was for the students to bring closer to children, through creative workshops, some of the museums and galleries, as cultural institutions, located in Novi Sad, in an interesting way and thereby help develop awareness of museums as interesting and important bearers of cultural heritage.
During all five workshops, the children learned in interesting ways and through play how people once looked and lived in prehistory and in the time of the Romans, through the play "The Coronation of Emperor Dušan", adapted to their age, they learned something about Serbian history, then they learned which animals live in the countryside and how people once lived in villages, about insects, about animals from the ice age, they learned what a portrait, figure and still life are…
Each of these workshops also had a creative and practical part: coloring, painting, making farm animals from plasticine, swords, shields, drawing portraits, favorite characters from the play Emperor Dušan and the play "Time Machine", assembling puzzles and similar…
All these workshops, in addition to cultural and educational, also had a humanitarian character, because all the money collected from donors and gifts (television, crayons, plasticine, collages, sweets) will be presented to the children from the Safe Children's House in Novi Sad.
