POSSIBILITIES OF INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE REUSE AS TOURIST ATTRACTIONS – A CASE STUDY OF CITY OF ZRENJANIN (VOJVODINA, SERBIA)
Authors: Sonja Ćopić, Aleksandar Tumarić
Abstract: Industrial heritage tourism is a new form of tourism, which often involves reuse of abandoned industrial facilities for tourism purposes. Former industrial cities, affected by deindustrialization are looking for an oportunity to economically and socially revitalize themselves through this type of tourism, which is a general trend in developed countries. The subject of this paper is investigating possibilities for reuse of industrial heritage of the city of Zrenjanin in tourism purposes, which has been hit hard by deindustrialization due to wars, economic crisis and isolation during the last decade of the 20th century. Abandoned factory complexes that serve no purpose now occupy city center, but have an important tourist potential. Some of these complexes include Zrenjanin brewery, the old city slaughterhouse and abandoned facilities of Šinvoz factory. Adaptation of these buildings into cultural, sports and shopping centers would instigate the developement of tourism in the city.

FERTILITY RATES IN TEŠANJ MUNICIPALITY (BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA) IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20TH AND THE BEGINNING OF 21ST CENTURY
Authors: Alma Kadušić, Alija Suljić, Dževad Mešanović
Abstract: In the second half of the 20th century, demographic changes of the Tešanj municipality developed in accordance with the complex socioeconomic circumstances in this area. In the period from 1953 to 1991 the population of Tešanj municipality increased by the average annual population growth rate of 1.5%. The biggest impact on demographic trends had the positive and relatively high rates of natural increase. The natural population change of Tešanj municipality in this period was the result of the effect of biological, socioeconomic, psychological and other factors. In this period fertility signifcantly influenced the rates of natural increase of municipal population. The gradual decline process of the fertility rates, which has started in the 1960s and still lasts, reflected on the natural population change and population growth rates of Tešanj population. Additional decrease of the fertility and birth rates, as well as moderate increase of mortality rate was observed. This occurred due to the decrease of the total population, as well as the adverse socioeconomic circumstances after 1995, which resulted in low natural growth rates.

LOCATIONAL PREFERENCE AND UNEMPLOYMENT OF ASIAN-BORN IMMIGRANT IN THE U.S. METROPOLISES
Authors: Felix Höschle, Wadim Strielkowski, Olga Tcukanova, Emily Welkins
Abstract: Our paper focuses on the problematique of the locational preferences and unemployment of Asianborn migrants in U.S. metropolises. We employ the data from the 2010 United States Census on mostly Asian-born individuals and run a thorough analysis of immigrants’ segregation and placement in 23 U.S. largest cities. Our results show there are no areas with high unemployment and a high share of Asian-born individuals. Moreover, a relationship between unemployment and the share of foreign-born individuals in the U.S. cities comes through as insignifcant. Our results support the thesis that Asian-born migrants are sensitive to the presence of unemployment while looking for the suitable habitat. In addition, it appears that they might avoid areas with disproportionally high unemployment rate on purpose. It also stems from our fndings that Asian-born migrants in United States work harder and do longer hours in comparison with the other migrants, which also means that they do not constitute a signifcant burden for U.S. social welfare. We come to the conclusion that our fndings might also hold for other groups of immigrants in major U.S and world’s metropolises.

INFLUENCE OF MASCARENE HIGH AND INDIAN OCEAN DIPOLE ON EAST AFRICAN EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS
Authors: Bob Alex Ogwang, Victor Ongoma, Li Xing, Faustin Katchele Ogou
Abstract: Extreme weather and climate events such as floods and droughts are common in East Africa, causing huge socio-economic losses. This study links the east African October-December (OND) rainfall, Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) and Mascarene High (MH).Correlation analysis is applied to quantify the relationship between the index of IOD (Dipole Mode Index (DMI)) and OND rainfall. Results show that there exists a signifcant correlation between OND rainfall and DMI, with a correlation coeffcient of 0.6.During dry years, MH is observed to intensify and align itself in the southeast-northwest orientation, stretching up to the continent, which in turn inhibits the influx of moisture from Indian Ocean into East Africa. During wet years, MH weakens, shifts to the east and aligns itself in the zonal orientation. Moisture from Indian Ocean is freely transported into east Africa during wet years. Analysis of the drought and flood years with respect to the different variables including wind, velocity potential and divergence/ convergence revealed that the drought (flood) years were characterized by divergence (convergence) in the lower troposphere and convergence (divergence) at the upper level, implying sinking (rising) motion, especially over the western Indian Ocean and the study area. Convergence at low level gives rise to vertical stretching, whereas divergence results in vertical shrinking, which suppresses convection due to subsidence. Positive IOD (Negative IOD) event results into flood (drought) in the region. The evolution of these phenomena can thus be keenly observed for utilization in the update of seasonal forecasts.

THE FULL STORY OF 90 HIJACKED JOURNALS FROM AUGUST 2011 TO JUNE 2015
Authors: Mehrdad Jalalian, Mehdi Dadkhah
Abstract: During recent years, the academic world has suffered a lot from the threats of hijacked journals and fake publishers that have called into question the validity and reliability of scientifc publications. The purpose of this paper is to tell the in-depth story of hijacked journals. This paper addresses the hijackers themselves, the methods they use to fnd their victims in the academic world, the methods they use to collect money from unsuspecting researchers by charging them to publish in hijacked journals, how they hide their identities, and how the academic world can best protect itself from these cybercriminals. Without identifying specifc journal hijackers, we tell the story of how an assistant professor of computer and information science from Saudi Arabia (who holds a Ph.D. from a Malaysian university) and his team of Word Press experts from Pakistan hijacked at least six journals including journal of technology, BRI’s Journal of Advances in Science and Technology, Magnt Research Report, Scientific Khyber, Saussurea, and created one of the four fake websites for Texas Journal of Science. We also tell the story of how some conferences are integrated with hijacked journals, and how a cybercriminal with a fake address in United Arab Emirates used the pseudonym “James Robinson” to mass hijack more than 20 academic journals (Journal of Balkan Tribological Association, Scientia Guaianae, Journal of American Medical Association, Cadmo, Entomon, Italianistica, Revue scientifque et technique, Kardiologiya, Agrochimica, Terapevticheskii Arkhiv, Ama, Tekstil, Fauna Rossii I Sopredel Nykh Stran, Azariana, PSR health research bulletin, etc.). We also address the European cybercriminal with pseudonym “Ruslan Boranbaev” who hijacked the Archives des Sciences in October 2011 and created the “Science record journals” (to host three hijacked journals Including “Science series data report”, Innovaciencia, and “Science and nature”; and seven fake journals) for the frst time in the academic world in August
2011. We tell how Ruslan Boranbaev designed a systematic approach to mass hijack more than 25scientifc journals, including Bothalia, Jokull, Cienia e tecnica, Wulfenia, Doriana, Revista Kasmera, Mitteilungen Klosterneuburg, Sylwan, HFSP journal, Natura, and Cahiers des Sciences Naturelles. We also tell the story how this genius cybercriminal, whom we could call the king of hijacked journals, created a fake “web of sciences” portal in 2015 on a dedicated server in France to launch an automated spam broadcasting machine of calls for papers for his hijacked journals. We also present how the Ruslan Boranbaev created numerous online payment portals for collecting the publication charges of hijacked journals, and cheated the Thomson Reuters to provide hyperlinks to the fake website of three hijacked journals in his masterpiece “revistas academicas.com”. We also tell the story of how someone adopted the Ruslan Boranbaev approach to cheat the Thomson Reuters to create hyperlinks from master journal list of Thomson Reuters to two of his hijacked journals (GMP review: http://www.euromed.uk.com, Allgemeine Forst und Jagdzeitung: http://www.sauerlander-verlag.com). Finally, we present the most comprehensive list of hijacked journals available, including all of those that we have detected from August 11, 2011 to June 15, 2015.
