Another semester, and another generation of tourism and gastronomy students who are to organize an animation evening. How to satisfy previously established standards, and remain original? And then something comes to mind that, to all of us who do not act professionally, seems exciting but also somewhat frightening. Three months of hard and constant rehearsals, so that both we and the audience, who sent us off with ovations, could be proud of the final product. On a chilly evening, 30 January 2012, the "Film cabaret" of student enthusiasts opened its doors to all Novi Sad residents. In front of about 150 guests, they sang, danced, acted, all in order to manage to collect enough money for the treatment of little Janko Stefanović from Kragujevac. They did not forget the children from the shelter either, whom they delighted with new toys and sweets.

In the cinema hall of the "Cultural Center" of Novi Sad, during a two-hour program, they tried to guide all film lovers through some of the most striking moments of film cinematography. First, as is fitting, the icon of "Cabaret" Liza Minnelli appeared on stage and welcomed those present with "Welcome to the Cabaret". During the evening, the hosting pair tried, in a somewhat humorous and explicit way, to remind the guests of all film genres.
With horror, they wanted to send a chill down the guests' spines, and with the piercing scream of the host, to freeze the blood in their veins. The killer from "Psycho" was especially enraged by the desecration of Seve's new hit "This will be a good night, I have a feeling" by the alpha male Obrad. However, the clumsy Psycho-killer only managed to knock out a tooth of the unfortunate hero. Dracula from the shadows played with Mina and Stana through hypnosis, throwing them around the room like plush toys. With a seductive dance, he managed to enchant Mina, so much so that she could not control her emotions towards the gigantic Živojin. The most recognizable film music helped to give the guests a rest from laughter, with dance numbers. Singing and dancing, the girls with feathery scarves entertained the guests with "Dancing queen". Chicago briefly shone in Novi Sad, while Roxie and Velma crept onto the stage in cocktail dresses and with machine guns. The "Desperado" fight was, in their direction, a women's one. While our Antonio tried to choose one of the girls, they agreed to make his choice easier by chasing him away.

And although it sailed through all cinema halls, "Titanic" did not manage to sail off from our stage. Revolted by the choice of the third-rate Leonardo DiCaprio, our James Cameron did not have the right means to work. A half-drunk Kate, a short Leonardo and an "unprofessional" crew with a raven instead of Celine Dion's nightingale probably would not have raked in all the millions that the original "Titanic" earned, but it made the audience laugh to tears. The eternal sci-fi duel between father Darth Vader and son Luke wanted to reveal to the audience the real truth about family relations. The matter somehow got complicated through damage and carburetor, to the daughter of the sister-in-law's cousin and the husband a swindler who is the biological father, but actually is not the father. It is important to note that in this version, Luke and Darth parted in peace, and the audience in a trance.
The students do not boast, but as they say – they are proud, and the professor is proud too. They are proud because they were part of such a project that will remain in their memory as a unique experience of studying at the Faculty of Sciences.

That evening, with them were all those characters we admired so much while watching them grow up. Forrest Gump and his box of chocolates that could never arrive full to his Penny. Audrey Hepburn in a black dress, with black gloves, black glasses and inevitable pearls, who has remained an idol of elegance to young girls to this day. The seductive Marilyn Monroe, her unsurpassed charm and the power with which she intoxicated everyone present, even if she sang about diamonds. And as is fitting for a Cabaret, the evening was closed by its most brilliant star, and another performance by our Liza, this time with a partner and the song "Money, money". Maybe not exactly a typical song with which you would close a Cabaret, but if one takes into account the reason for the gathering, more than appropriate.
At the cocktail with a buffet and film music, in addition to all the old stars and newly discovered talents, the audience also joined us, who enjoyed with delight the specialties of our gastronomes. Honestly, our journey was not interrupted. But since everything somehow comes to an end faster than it seems to us, all that remains is for us to retell the sketches and who knows, maybe we will meet again.
