About the Project
TOURCOMSERBIA was approved under the IDEAS programme of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia and ran from January 2022 to December 2024. Its main goal is to develop a model for continuous measurement of the competitiveness of Serbian tourism, enabling decision-makers to take concrete action to improve Serbia's competitive position in the international tourism market.
Developing the model involves a series of activities in Serbia and in the countries identified as Serbia's main tourism competitors, with the support and active participation of key tourism stakeholders. The project is supported by the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia, the National Association of Travel Agencies of Serbia (YUTA) and the Business Association of Hotel and Restaurant Industry (HORES).
A final publication presenting the project results and concrete measures is planned for distribution to tourism decision-makers in Serbia and other stakeholders. It is intended to inform future strategies at the national level and decision-making at the regional and local levels, with the aim of strengthening Serbia's competitive position as a tourism destination and supporting sustainable tourism development.
The project team brings together professors and researchers from the Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management of the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad and from Singidunum University, with long-standing expertise in tourism research, particularly in destination competitiveness and tourism development in Serbia and worldwide.
This project is supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, Project No. 7739076, Tourism Destination Competitiveness – Evaluation Model for Serbia – TOURCOMSERBIA.
