The main activities of the Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management are teaching-educational, scientific-research and publishing. Initially, the teaching-educational process took place only through undergraduate studies, later through undergraduate, specialist and master's studies, and today, in accordance with the requirements and propositions of the Bologna Declaration, teaching is realized through undergraduate academic, graduate academic-master and doctoral studies. The teaching-educational process is carried out through the synergy of classroom and field teaching and professional practice . This certainly influences the education of higher quality teaching staff in the field of geography during more than 60 years of the Department's existence, i.e. more expert staff in the fields of tourism, hotel management and gastronomy, in the last thirty years of its operation.

For more than 25 years, the international scientific journals "Geographica Pannonica" and "Turizam" have also been published, also in English. Also, it is important to note that from 2001 to 2011, the Department published the popular science magazine "Gea" in Serbian, which during the twelve-year period of its existence gained great popularity, especially among pupils and teachers in primary and secondary schools, both in Vojvodina and throughout Serbia. In addition, researchers of the Department have published a large number of bibliographic units in scientific and professional journals and encyclopedias and participate in numerous scientific conferences with papers in the country and abroad.
