Geographical phenomena can equally interest tourists as well as a living world inside ecotourism. Nowadays, for instance, volcanic relief, mountains, fluvial relieves, caves and sand dunes etc. attract more and more tourists. Tourism market shows a tendency of an increased number of tourists with new interests. That is a real opportunity to present the values of geodiversity inside the tourist offer. Geodiversity based tourism – so called geotourism should not be observed outside ecotourism since it has a strongly emphasized educational function and it serves a better understanding and protection of natural heritage. Such characteristics of geotourism should be in tight connection with sustainable development, i.e. sustainable tourism.

Today on the territory of Vojvodina approximately one hundred natural resources have been protected – the regions of special natural resources and characteristics, that attracts certain group of tourists. The municipality of Titel is one of that has the Special Nature Reserve “Titel hill”, with splendid natural and anthropological suitability (convenience) for the development of many types of tourism, especially geotourism and ecotourism. Furthermore, relative good lines of transportation with neighboring places and cities, attractive location right beside the Danube swampy area and the Tisa river make the municipality of Titel attractive for relaxation and recreation.

There is a loess plateau, between the Danube and the Tisa and mouth of river Begej in Tisa and also the traces of former civilizations and cultures. In the region (in the area) of Special Nature Reserve “Titel hill” there are plenty of natural resources which have important function of the development of geotourism. Geotourism can be a base of tourism activity development in the municipality of Titel.

The hill is a peculiar loess island abounding in loess relief features. On the area of Titel hill, prevalleys, hanging pyramids, torrents etc appear. Due to all researches, the locality is important for understanding the natural processes that evolved in the Pannonian lowland during the Middle and Upper Pleistocene. It is very important to prepaire this mentioned protected special reserve (which indicates that one should be nominated for a GEOpark) for the future development of tourism in this municipality, due to principles of sustainable tourism (sustainable geotourism), so that one’s geomorphological diversity and biodiversity will not be disturbed.
